The Crude Distillation Unit No 4, is a heat integrated, energy efficient process unit which separates crude oil into several groups of fractions viz. These qualifications are available for companies who want to recognise and certify or develop the skills of existing Process Plant Operators in the hydrocarbons, chemical or refining industries.
Through the development of customised individual learning programs, Competency Training can assist individuals and organisations in the development of individual operators and the development of their teams through a combination of Recognition of Prior Learning and on-the-job training.

Competency Training’s Subject Matter Expert/Assessor will work with your company to map existing training content and outcomes to the units of competency.
As your employees complete their required training pathway and evidence of successful training completion is provided, the relevant units of competency/qualification will be awarded to the employees.
Where gaps are identified, other options such as training will be provided to meet the requirements of the units of competency.
Each of the qualifications consists of 5 core units, which are common to all three qualifications.
Each qualification has a range of electives, which must meet specific elective requirements as specified in the PMA Chemical, Hydrocarbons and Refining Industry Training Package (PMA) (see below). Electives are selected in consultation with the employer/employee, as appropriate to the industry and site-specific requirements.

PMA20116- CERTIFICATE II IN PROCESS PLANT OPERATIONS
The PMA20116- Certificate II in Process Plant Operations is an entry level qualification for operators in the hydrocarbons, petrochemical, chemical, metal/ore processing and related process manufacturing industry sectors. Participants must be working in an operational role, operating production equipment.
The Certificate II in Process Plant Operations consists of 16 units of competency:
- 5 core units of competency, which are mandatory for all participants.
- 11 elective units to meet specific elective grouping requirements.
PMA30116- CERTIFICATE III IN PROCESS PLANT OPERATIONS
The PMA30116- Certificate III in Process Plant Operations is a technical qualification for advanced operators and technicians who are directly involved with production processes. Participants must be able to demonstrate how they use their product and process knowledge to anticipate and solve problems.
The Certificate III in Process Plant Operations consists of 21 units of competency:
- 5 core units of competency, which are mandatory for all participants.
- 16 elective units to meet specific elective grouping requirements.
THE PMA40116- CERTIFICATE IV IN PROCESS PLANT TECHNOLOGY
The PMA40116- Certificate IV in Process Plant Technology is a qualification that is typically used to develop operational employees into roles that require more complex problem-solving. Participants must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the production process and equipment across the plant.
The Certificate IV in Process Plant Technology consists of 26 units of competency:
- 5 core units of competency, which are mandatory for all participants.
- 21 elective units to meet specific elective grouping requirements.
